Catch-Up!

Abject apologies! Things have been very busy, with all Church Properties-----and the proper job! However, here is the stuff which has been sitting as a draft---- might as well have it---better late than never. 21:49 on 19 September 2009 Well the sun shone (most of the day)- The organ worked! (thank you Iain) and the Violin duets (Wilson & Jane xx) were a joy as well. 207 people came through the doors and all (bar one) were pleased with what they found. A lovely and characterful building with people inside who work very hard to keep it open for all the rest. I do hope our friends in Bellshill tonight have a good music event as well. Malcolm, our architect spoke informatively about the repair work and I know that people will assume that I'll do as well tomorrow. But for tonight--I'm off to bed. Sunday 20th.September ---- Very early before opening, I hoovered up all the leaves; this morning the Church Service was piped through the speaker system and the sun blazed through the ...

Great Excitement!

OK! Here is the clarification of the very brisk post late last week. The small 'Children's Windows' are to be repaired and restored. I did feel that it was only fair that the Congregation of KH should hear the news first. and they were delighted by the announcement on Sunday. Here follows the official News Release. Thanks to a 'doors-open' policy at weekends which the congregation runs, local people and visitors to the city regularly come and look around the church The large Memorial Window which has recently been restored by Stained Glass Design Partnership shows the skilled craftsmanship and capabilities of that team of conservators and artists. Susan Bradbury, of Stained Glass Design Partnership was present last Satu...

After the Opening.

Wow!, Open Doors Weekend is over for another year. Thank you, to all those who came in to see what was happening and also to those who didn't realise that we had extra metal-work in place; you were all most kind and said nice things about the building. The weather was kind to us and on Sunday morning especially with the sun rising through the stained windows, I did feel incredibly humbled by the sheer beauty of the legacy left by our forbears. All we've got to do now is to keep a lid on it! literally! Heartfelt thanks have to go to all those who helped to make the event for us such a success, to all those who stewarded upstairs in the Sanctuary, to Dr. Iain Galbraith , our organist who played so beautifully on Saturday. To the Rev. Pat Lang who also popped in to play the organ. To the very capable Catering Team downstairs who fed our visitors Cream Teas. Visitors were also able to purchase Fairtrade goods and many did so--- Thank You all very Much. Mention must also be made of ...
