OK! Here is the clarification of the very brisk post late last week.
The small 'Children's Windows' are to be repaired and restored.
I did feel that it was only fair that the Congregation of KH should hear the news first. and they were delighted by the announcement on Sunday.
Here follows the official News Release.
The Congregation of Kelvinside Hillhead has been able to restore 6 of the Church windows over the last few years and continues to work towards raising funds to restore this magnificent A-listed place of worship in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
Thanks to a 'doors-open' policy at weekends which the congregation runs, local people and visitors to the city regularly come and look around the church
The large Memorial Window which has recently been restored by Stained Glass Design Partnership shows the skilled craftsmanship and capabilities of that team of conservators and artists.
Susan Bradbury, of Stained Glass Design Partnership was present last Saturday at the Re-dedication Service and was so moved by the building and glass that she has brought forward her offer, to restore and repair the 5 small windows at the rear of the Church.

As a Gift!
It does seem wonderful that these will be repaired over the next 2 months ---and not at a much later time.
These small windows (for us----small) depict scenes from the childhood of Christ.
This is wonderful news, Fiona, and a most generous gesture from someone who knows the quality of our glass. As I've said, however, we will need to look closely at the protection of these particular windows.

Quite, the little picture on the post shows just how vulnerable these little windows were.
ReplyDeleteYea verily. However, for the benefit of casual readers it should be clarified that the picture accompanying the Fabric Convenor [I prefer Convener]'s brief comment is not in fact another example of our stained glass (except in the background!) – beautiful as it is.
