Is that a Light?

Is that a Light?

Is that the Light? --- at the end of the Tunnel? --- or the train coming toward us?

Whatever one's viewpoint, there is no denying that yet again there are Blue Skies and many people working very hard above our heads.

It hardly seems possible that this week is even busier than last. The car park even fuller of cars and vans. Of course it all makes sense, now that we are on the final countdown to 'Contract Completion'. Then we can start to celebrate Christmas. This year; back in the Sanctuary!

But before then there is still an incredible amount of work to do.

Re-decoration;

Reinstatement of pews, carpets and other floor coverings; Reinstatement of Ceilings and plaster:

Re-hanging of the Belmont Cross and other things and general cleaning up.

Will we see much for the money spent?

Apart from a clean, and refreshed Chancel area, probably the biggest return on the investment is surely within us.
The knowledge that the roof over our heads is secure, that despite all adversity, we as a congregation have proved to ourselves and to others that we are resourceful, strong in our faith and strong in our heart. Yes, Other people are helping us to achieve our aims, but that wouldn't happen, if we didn't first believe in ourselves.

  1. How very aptly said, and how very true. And a great deal of the credit goes to our indefatigable Fabric Convener. AINZ

The snow held off this morning and the Contractors were hopeful of taking down 4 'flights' of scaffold before Christmas. however it was deemed too dangerous for that this morning. 'What about the weather vane?' I asked. 'Well we;ll see how it is the afternoon and we've got a back-up with the Steeplejacks if necessary' said Hunter & Clark. Off I went on errands and on my return driving along Queen Margaret Drive I noticed that the scaffold around Oran Mor had been taken down and then I noticed a 'High -vis' figure on top of our Fleche which clothed in its scaffold looks a bit like a pineapple over the roof tops of Grosvenor Terrace. Once it was safe to do so, I of course took photos of Archie and Craig tackling the re-installation of our very own 'Chanticleer' All this was of course whilst the snow was coming down again. Hard! However the Task was successfully accomplished. Thank You both, very much. It is much appreciated by all of us at ...

Re-Dedication Service

The clean-up team have been in this week! Many thanks to them---they know who they are! The Sanctuary is looking much cleaner and shinier now. Final clean-up on Friday! We are all looking forward to the Service on Saturday which Alastair Cherry will conduct, lots of people have said they are able to come and the weather forecast is favourable. One little word, the Church is still technically a Building Site, So please pay heed to the advice of the Stewards and remain on the permitted side of any roped-off areas. Hard Hats will not be neccessary.

Return from the brink?!

Don't do it! It does seem a little strange, but I think this is the second photo of this very hardworking person "up close and personal" with a window. Although the last time we managed to have the window brought down from on high for her close inspection. Whatever, the gist of all this is; that this particular property owned by the Congregation is now ready for a new tenant. As explained during the 'At-Home Sessions' this will be an extra source of income for the Congregation. A lot of work by a lot of people has gone into achieving this, and cleaning the windows on a glorious Autumn afternoon has been just part of it.
