Why can't we use the Sanctuary tomorrow?

I don't know how many different people asked me that question?

I do know that I was happy with my Risk Assessment, which was beefed up for today's Service, I didn't need to consider the weather today (Thank Goodness) and with many more people in the Church than our normal weekly visitors on a Saturday afternoon, I did need to consider what we'd do if the rains poured down or a gale blew up.
So ------ As the place has been cleaned up and unless there is a vast change overnight, then we'll conduct Sunday Worship in the Sanctuary tomorrow.

What a weekend this is turning out to be. More wonderful Music from our Choir and Organist Iain Galbraith----Hopefully the rest of us will be able to sing out as well.

BUT ------- Please remember this is an exception, and that the Church is still officially a building site and that I did happen to notice where the chap in charge of our Contractors decided to sit during the Service!

  1. Yes, we understand, "Mrs Decibel-Fabric"! But it WAS nice to be back, if only for a couple of superb services. It gives us great hope for the future, and hope is what KHPC needs right now. But it also needs top-class conveners like you; we are indeed fortunate in our ladies!

The snow held off this morning and the Contractors were hopeful of taking down 4 'flights' of scaffold before Christmas. however it was deemed too dangerous for that this morning. 'What about the weather vane?' I asked. 'Well we;ll see how it is the afternoon and we've got a back-up with the Steeplejacks if necessary' said Hunter & Clark. Off I went on errands and on my return driving along Queen Margaret Drive I noticed that the scaffold around Oran Mor had been taken down and then I noticed a 'High -vis' figure on top of our Fleche which clothed in its scaffold looks a bit like a pineapple over the roof tops of Grosvenor Terrace. Once it was safe to do so, I of course took photos of Archie and Craig tackling the re-installation of our very own 'Chanticleer' All this was of course whilst the snow was coming down again. Hard! However the Task was successfully accomplished. Thank You both, very much. It is much appreciated by all of us at ...

Re-Dedication Service

The clean-up team have been in this week! Many thanks to them---they know who they are! The Sanctuary is looking much cleaner and shinier now. Final clean-up on Friday! We are all looking forward to the Service on Saturday which Alastair Cherry will conduct, lots of people have said they are able to come and the weather forecast is favourable. One little word, the Church is still technically a Building Site, So please pay heed to the advice of the Stewards and remain on the permitted side of any roped-off areas. Hard Hats will not be neccessary.

Return from the brink?!

Don't do it! It does seem a little strange, but I think this is the second photo of this very hardworking person "up close and personal" with a window. Although the last time we managed to have the window brought down from on high for her close inspection. Whatever, the gist of all this is; that this particular property owned by the Congregation is now ready for a new tenant. As explained during the 'At-Home Sessions' this will be an extra source of income for the Congregation. A lot of work by a lot of people has gone into achieving this, and cleaning the windows on a glorious Autumn afternoon has been just part of it.
