Earth Hour

28 March 2009 A massive global event. Possibly the world's greatest environmental event ever! On Saturday 28 March 2009 at 8.30pm, individuals, businesses, companies, schools and iconic buildings across Scotland will turn off their lights for one hour - WWF's Earth Hour. WWF’s Earth Hour already has support in over 1800 cities in 80 countries. Here in Scotland, lights will go out in every major city and on some of the country's most iconic buildings including: Edinburgh Castle, the Forth Rail Bridge, the Scottish Parliament and ---Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church. Earth Hour will be observed by Kelvinside Hillhead Parish Church at the appointed time of 20:30hrs on Saturday 28th.March 2009. Coffee and biscuits in the Old Session Room? By Candlelight? Continuum - - - - - - - -

Continuum (occasionally spelled continuüm) : Continuum (theory) , anything that goes through a gradual transition from one condition, to a different condition, without any abrupt changes or discontinuities. Um!!! Perhaps a very good word to ponder this week. We now know that we have been awarded the maximum possible grant under the "Repairs to Listed Places of Worship" Scheme. ; 250k, which goes a very long way towards 'keeping the roof over our heads!' Now we wait, again; as we work together with the Mission & Strategy Committee of Glasgow Presbytery to progress to the next stage. Pray with us for kind weather and gentle breezes. Tomorrow, (Sunday ) is KH's Stated Annual Meeting, -----Short reports (hopefully) and a Soup & Sandwich Lunch thereafter. followed by yet another Special Meeting of our Kirk Session. Clear and in no Present Danger!

Some of you may recognise the quotation from one of my favoured authors , but in this instance I'm talking about the Teacher Memorial Window. Finally the extra internal scaffold in front of the window was removed this morning. So it is able to be seen clearly tomorrow during Open Church between 3 and 5pm. All are welcome in this place.
