Snow! What Snow?

Just when you think things are going with you, something will always turn up to scupper your best laid plans. Firstly please excuse the typing if it goes adrift but my own Central Heating packed up on Friday and a cure (replacement boiler) doesn't look as if it'll happen soon. So back to the 'good' old days, without heat and without running hot water, and sitting at a chilly desk wondering, 'Why Me?' The great boon of the Internet has meant that all of my work clients who couldn't get to their offices, stayed at home and still wanted output from me. No rest for the wicked! At least it's indoor-work this week!

So------ the Window might not get finished this week , but what's another week in the great scheme of things?

Tomorrow there is a public Meeting in the Library (not large enough if there is a big turn-out) and the talk is about West End Churches at risk. KH has been included but they haven't spoken to me and possibly they haven't read this Blog, so we'll see what they have to say!
Could be interesting!

The Good News is that the Glass Restorers have been able to leave the Signature uncovered when replacing the panel. So everyone can see it again!

  1. Hello Fiona: Hope you are not totally frozen. A bad time for the boiler to fail!

I enjoy all your blogs, and hopefully I can now comment on them, as otherwise they seem very lonely.

As to the public meeting, we are naturally grateful for all support, but have made it clear that for now we are following the official path to the letter, without trying to bring any outside pressures to bear.

    Keep warm – and hopeful.

The snow held off this morning and the Contractors were hopeful of taking down 4 'flights' of scaffold before Christmas. however it was deemed too dangerous for that this morning. 'What about the weather vane?' I asked. 'Well we;ll see how it is the afternoon and we've got a back-up with the Steeplejacks if necessary' said Hunter & Clark. Off I went on errands and on my return driving along Queen Margaret Drive I noticed that the scaffold around Oran Mor had been taken down and then I noticed a 'High -vis' figure on top of our Fleche which clothed in its scaffold looks a bit like a pineapple over the roof tops of Grosvenor Terrace. Once it was safe to do so, I of course took photos of Archie and Craig tackling the re-installation of our very own 'Chanticleer' All this was of course whilst the snow was coming down again. Hard! However the Task was successfully accomplished. Thank You both, very much. It is much appreciated by all of us at ...

Re-Dedication Service

The clean-up team have been in this week! Many thanks to them---they know who they are! The Sanctuary is looking much cleaner and shinier now. Final clean-up on Friday! We are all looking forward to the Service on Saturday which Alastair Cherry will conduct, lots of people have said they are able to come and the weather forecast is favourable. One little word, the Church is still technically a Building Site, So please pay heed to the advice of the Stewards and remain on the permitted side of any roped-off areas. Hard Hats will not be neccessary.

Return from the brink?!

Don't do it! It does seem a little strange, but I think this is the second photo of this very hardworking person "up close and personal" with a window. Although the last time we managed to have the window brought down from on high for her close inspection. Whatever, the gist of all this is; that this particular property owned by the Congregation is now ready for a new tenant. As explained during the 'At-Home Sessions' this will be an extra source of income for the Congregation. A lot of work by a lot of people has gone into achieving this, and cleaning the windows on a glorious Autumn afternoon has been just part of it.
