Happy Days!

Well that's Christmas done for this year!

Unfortunately we didn't manage to have our traditional Candlelit Carol Service this year-----but next year is another matter!
We ran out of chairs for those attending the Watchnight Service on Christmas Eve and I wonder if the Carol Singers at the Entrance Door helped or hindered?
Whatever!----we certainly enjoyed a 'Good Sing' as others joined in, singing those long cherished carols, on a very crisp and clear night. We certainly didn't notice the cold, and Christmas Day Communion was busy as well with friends, family, neighbours and visitors all joining in worship of the New Born King.

And then on Monday 29th., we had our last wedding of the year when two of our congregation were married on yet another crisp, cold but sunny day. The oak panelling in the 'New Session Room' glowed warmth from the rays of the sun.and it was indeed a very happy occasion.
Thankfully for the guests standing around and waiting we were able to use part of the Church for some of the Wedding Photos, and Ross and Elaine looked truly happy as they posed for those all important shots. I do hope that the official photographer managed not to shake with laughing as we all shouted encouragement to the newly-weds. I know my amateur attempts did not work out quite as I would have wished.

The snow held off this morning and the Contractors were hopeful of taking down 4 'flights' of scaffold before Christmas. however it was deemed too dangerous for that this morning. 'What about the weather vane?' I asked. 'Well we;ll see how it is the afternoon and we've got a back-up with the Steeplejacks if necessary' said Hunter & Clark. Off I went on errands and on my return driving along Queen Margaret Drive I noticed that the scaffold around Oran Mor had been taken down and then I noticed a 'High -vis' figure on top of our Fleche which clothed in its scaffold looks a bit like a pineapple over the roof tops of Grosvenor Terrace. Once it was safe to do so, I of course took photos of Archie and Craig tackling the re-installation of our very own 'Chanticleer' All this was of course whilst the snow was coming down again. Hard! However the Task was successfully accomplished. Thank You both, very much. It is much appreciated by all of us at ...

Re-Dedication Service

The clean-up team have been in this week! Many thanks to them---they know who they are! The Sanctuary is looking much cleaner and shinier now. Final clean-up on Friday! We are all looking forward to the Service on Saturday which Alastair Cherry will conduct, lots of people have said they are able to come and the weather forecast is favourable. One little word, the Church is still technically a Building Site, So please pay heed to the advice of the Stewards and remain on the permitted side of any roped-off areas. Hard Hats will not be neccessary.

Return from the brink?!

Don't do it! It does seem a little strange, but I think this is the second photo of this very hardworking person "up close and personal" with a window. Although the last time we managed to have the window brought down from on high for her close inspection. Whatever, the gist of all this is; that this particular property owned by the Congregation is now ready for a new tenant. As explained during the 'At-Home Sessions' this will be an extra source of income for the Congregation. A lot of work by a lot of people has gone into achieving this, and cleaning the windows on a glorious Autumn afternoon has been just part of it.
