KH Progress Update

Wow! What a week! The powers that be; are getting all in a twist!

However the HS/HLF Grant application means that KH had a Site Visit today, Thursday. by a Case Worker appointed to write an assessment on the merit of the Building. Although there are already various reports and photos in existence, I don't think it was fully appreciated until the Scaffold was climbed. just how high up you have to go to reach the ceiling. ---A very long waaaaay!----

The Teacher Memorial Window was also removed this week and is now safely in the Studio of The Stained Glass Partnership, once they have had a good look at the panels Susan and Paul will be able to give a better idea as to when the Window will be replaced in all its glory. I did promise the lads from Denholm who were erecting the extra Scaffold that I would put their pictures on the web. Fame at last!! So hopefully they will recognise themselves on Flickr.

Also today, Friday, we took delivery of a new Bentley! An electronic Piano, not the wheeled kind, and wonderful it sounded too. Hopefully Iain Galbraith will be playing it at Sunday Worship. More later.

The snow held off this morning and the Contractors were hopeful of taking down 4 'flights' of scaffold before Christmas. however it was deemed too dangerous for that this morning. 'What about the weather vane?' I asked. 'Well we;ll see how it is the afternoon and we've got a back-up with the Steeplejacks if necessary' said Hunter & Clark. Off I went on errands and on my return driving along Queen Margaret Drive I noticed that the scaffold around Oran Mor had been taken down and then I noticed a 'High -vis' figure on top of our Fleche which clothed in its scaffold looks a bit like a pineapple over the roof tops of Grosvenor Terrace. Once it was safe to do so, I of course took photos of Archie and Craig tackling the re-installation of our very own 'Chanticleer' All this was of course whilst the snow was coming down again. Hard! However the Task was successfully accomplished. Thank You both, very much. It is much appreciated by all of us at ...

Re-Dedication Service

The clean-up team have been in this week! Many thanks to them---they know who they are! The Sanctuary is looking much cleaner and shinier now. Final clean-up on Friday! We are all looking forward to the Service on Saturday which Alastair Cherry will conduct, lots of people have said they are able to come and the weather forecast is favourable. One little word, the Church is still technically a Building Site, So please pay heed to the advice of the Stewards and remain on the permitted side of any roped-off areas. Hard Hats will not be neccessary.

Return from the brink?!

Don't do it! It does seem a little strange, but I think this is the second photo of this very hardworking person "up close and personal" with a window. Although the last time we managed to have the window brought down from on high for her close inspection. Whatever, the gist of all this is; that this particular property owned by the Congregation is now ready for a new tenant. As explained during the 'At-Home Sessions' this will be an extra source of income for the Congregation. A lot of work by a lot of people has gone into achieving this, and cleaning the windows on a glorious Autumn afternoon has been just part of it.
